Calhoun Sets 400-meter Indoor Record

GVSU Big Meet Results

ALLENDALE, MICH. -- A handful of Titans on the women's track and field team competed at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday. The meet has over 1,800 athletes with teams competing from all over the Midwest.

Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI, Belleville) highlighted the night for Detroit with her performance in the 400-meter dash. Calhoun represented the Titans with a 10th place finish, crossing the line at 56.74. With the time Calhoun lowers her own indoor record. 

Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON, St. Theresa Catholic) ran well for Detroit in the 800-meter run. Mooney lowered her personal-best by finishing in 18th place with a time of 2:15.90. Mooney is now third all-time on the Titan Top 10 list behind Andrea Karl and Ruthie Cook.

Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI, Marine City) ran in the 5000-meter run at the GVSU Big Meet. The sophomore finished in 39th place with a time of 18:23.62. Torrie Eger (Buchanan, MI , Buchanan) also made her track debut in the 5000m. She crossed the finish line at 20:33.

The Detroit women's track and field team will be at the Windsor Team Challenge on Saturday Feb. 12.
