CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - For the second consecutive week, the Mid-American Conference named Eastern Michigan University men's track and field athlete
Terefe Ejigu (Wellington, New Zealand-Wellington College) the conference's Track Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made today (Tuesday), Feb. 15.
Ejigu won the mile run for the second straight week while competing at Grand Valley State University's Big Meet over the weekend. His time of 4:04.88 was the second-best time in the conference all season. Ejuigu owns the top time in the MAC which he establish at the Meyo Invite earlier this month.
This is the second time the sophomore has won the conference award, and it came on the same day in which the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named Ejigu to the 2010 Division I Cross Country All-Academic team. He was one of only 56 athletes nation-wide to earn the honor.
