Vintevoghel Named Cross Country Team MVP

The 2010 women's cross country team held their annual postseason team banquet. Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI, Marine City) was recognized as the MVP. The sophomore was the top Titan finisher in every race this season.

Vintevoghel put together a special season in 2010. The sophomore earned the Kevin Donner MVP honor by leading Detroit in each race. She placed 10th at the Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invite clocking in at 19:39. Her season-best 6k race came at Penn State when she ran 23:26.

Her best 5k time came at the Horizon League Championships. She finished in 27th place crossing the line in 19:21. Vintevoghel ended the year at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. She finished 173rd with a time of 23:59.25.

The Coach's Award went to Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON, St. Theresa Catholic). Mooney was able to break the 20 minute barrier (5k) at the National Catholic Championships (19:53). She went on to set her PR in the 6k race held at Penn State (24:20).

Mooney made a considerable improvement at the Horizon League Championships this year by finishing 26 places ahead of last year's mark. She clocked in at 19:31, which landed her in 29th place. The junior ended her season by finishing 192nd at the NCAA Regionals (24:30.01).

Katrina Oberski (Clyde, MI, Port Huron ) was honored with the Student-Athlete Award. Oberski is majoring in nursing and holds a remarkable 3.936 GPA. In 2010 she recorded her first sub-20 5k race at the Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invite. She crossed the line at 19:57, a 29 second improvement from the previous year.

Oberski tied her personal-best time in the 6k at Penn State (24:06). She finished the year strong with a 33rd place finish at the league meet (19:40), and her final race of the season was at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional where she finished at 24:53.

This year's Rookie of the Year honor went to Rachel Hofsess (Milford, MI, Milford). The Milford native took 22nd place at the Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invite with a time of 20:51. She recorded a personal record at the Louisville Classic with a time of 19:46.

The end of the year featured Hofsess placing 49th at the Horizon League Championships (20:17.19), and 220th at the Great Lakes Regional (26:05.56).
