Men’s Track & Field Places 8th at Colonial Relays

Final Results

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The men's track and field team placed eighth at the Colonial Relays over the weekend. The Titans won the 4x200 meter relay with the team of Deonte Osayande, Vushaun Landrum, Lesley Hanna, and Earnest Cleary.

36 teams competed in the Colonial Relays.  Bucknell won the event with 129.90 points.  Temple and Villanova would round out the top three.

The Titans set a new school record in the 4x200 with a time of 1:27.28. The old record was set in 2009 by the team of Vushaun Landrum, Joe LaRocca, Sam Jones, and Earnest Cleary. That group ran the race in 1:28.70.

Hanna also took top honors in the 400-meter dash. The senior took down nearly 60 other participants with a time of 48.48.

Three Titans scored in the 100-meter dash finals. Landrum was the leader, taking fifth place with a time of 11.21. Osayande took seventh with a time of 11.41, and Cleary finished in eighth with a time of 11.56.

The duo of Landrum and Osayande came back to score points for Detroit in the 200-meter dash. Landrum finished in seventh place overall clocking in at 22.32, while Osayande was close behind in eighth finishing in 22.33.

Anthony Donald and Vince Lefler just missed scoring in the 400-meter hurdles. Donald finished in ninth overall with a time of 55.09. Lefler was right behind him in 10th with a time of 55.56.

Many relay teams performed well for the Titans. In the 4x100 the team of Landrum, Hanna, Osayande, and Cleary finished in sixth with a time of 42.49. The 4x400 group of Joe Raffin, Lefler, Chris Smalley, and Hanna placed seventh with a time of 3:17.85.

The distance relay team of Matt Mahler, Ryan Ayala, Alex Harris and Pat Liederbach finished seventh in the 4x1500 meter relay. The team clocked in at 16:05.55. The 1600 Sprint Medley relay team of Aviram Campbell, Taylor Hennrick, Raffin and Chris Smalley also scored for Detroit. The team finished seventh overall with a time of 3:34.16.

Off the track, Ja'Quan Patterson did well in both the long and triple jump events. In the long jump Patterson leaped 21-2.75, and in the triple he just missed scoring with a mark of 44-11.75.

Eric Lewis had a good day in the hammer throw.  He set a UDM Rookie Record with a toss of 163-11, breaking Matt Groh's old mark of 159-7.
