Women’s Track and Field Edged by Oakland in 6th Annual Dual

DETROIT – The women's track and field team was narrowly defeated by Oakland on Saturday afternoon in the 6th Annual Detroit vs. Oakland Dual. Nicole Meisner highlighted the day with a new meet and stadium record in the 200-meter dash.

Meisner ran a strong race to record a first place finish in the 200-meter dash. Her time of 25.62 broke the old record of 26.13 held by Tiffany James. The freshman also took top honors in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.70.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Sequoyia Calhoun, Katie Taylor, Whitney Rogers, and Kirstin Mooney set a new meet and stadium record with a time of 4:01.96. Calhoun also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.17

The Titans did very well in both the jump events. Whitney Rogers took first place in the long jump with a distance of 16-7.25. Susan Kalkstein took care of business in the triple jump, winning the event with distance of 35-9.25.

Freshman Brandee Hart finished second in the 100-meter hurdles. Hart finished with a time of 15.53. Detroit got another second place finish in the 800-meter run. Sarah Martinez ran 2:26.84 for second, and sophomore Katie Weishaar took third.

Senior Kirstin Mooney led a group of Titans in the 400-meter hurdles. Mooney placed third with a time of 1:05.48. Olivia Smid finished in fourth (1:07.27), and Hart rounded out the top five (1:08.72).

Off the track, Allyson Koglin won the discus throw with a toss of 115-10. Koglin also took third in the hammer throw with a distance of 129-10.

Freshman Lauren Berlin ended the day in second place in the shot put. Berlin's throw of 25-3 edged Koglin who took third place.
