Track and Field Wraps Up Friday Events

The men's track and field team kicked off the weekend with a string of events at the Drake Relays.  A handful of Titans also competed at the Gina Relays.

The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Vushaun Landrum, Lesley Hanna, Charles Anthony, and Earnest Cleary got the Drake Relays started for Detroit. The group took sixth place in the third heat with a time of 41.99. It was the second time the Titans have ran under 42 seconds. They placed 18th overall.

The Titans used that same group of student-athletes in the 4x200 meter relay event. UDM took fourth place in the first heat with a time of 1:29.16. They finished eighth overall.

Detroit ended the 4x1600 meter relay in 14th place with a time of 17:40.22. Matt Mahler started the race and was followed by Bob Radlich. Patrick Liederbach was the third runner, while Ryan Ayala served as the team's anchor.

At the Hillsdale meet, sophomore Vince Lefler edged Anthony Donald for fifth all-time on the Titan Top 10 list in the 400-meter hurdles. Lefler finished ninth overall with a time of 54.49.

Edwin Gay set a new personal record in the steeplechase. Gay finished 25th overall with a time of 10:00.03.
