Hanna Ends Season in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Lesley Hanna ended his fantastic career as a Titan on Thursday Night. The senior placed sixth overall in the first heat of the 400m race at the 2011 NCAA Preliminary Round. He clocked in at 48.32.

ā€œTonight was a disappointing finish to a great year and a great career,ā€ Head Coach Guy Murray said. ā€œThere is no room for error at this level. LJ's back flared up after the Mt. SAC Relays, and he just missed too much training down the stretch.ā€

Hanna did not qualify for the quarterfinals after finishing in 48.32. Thomas Murdaugh won the heat with a time of 46.75. Marquis Holston, Patrick Feeney, and Austin Hollimon also qualified for tomorrow's quarterfinals.

Hanna qualified for the 2011 NCAA Preliminary Round at the 53rd Annual Mt. SAC Relays on April 14. Hanna recorded the top time in the Horizon League crossing the finish line in 46.72.

ā€œLJ is one of the best athletes we have ever had at Detroit,ā€ Murray added. ā€œHis Indoor Horizon League Championship meet was one of the best individual performances we have ever seen. This year and his sophomore season were as good as any Titan. He had a wonderful career and he really helped build the program back up.ā€
