Women’s Track & Field Places 7th at HL Championships

Final Results

INDIANAPOLIS – The Detroit Titan women's track and field team wrapped up the three-day Horizon League Outdoor Championship meet with a seventh place finish by recording 27 points. Sequoyia Calhoun led Detroit with a first place finish in the 400-meter dash.

Senior Sequoyia Calhoun took first place for Detroit in the 400-meter dash finals. Calhoun earned the top honor by finishing the race in 54.93 which lowers her own UDM record. Whitney Rogers was also in action for the Titans. She finished eighth overall with a time of 1:03.43.

Detroit had two athletes in the 200-meter dash finals. Brandee Hart placed fifth overall with a personal record time of 25.09. Nicole Meisner placed eighth with a time of 25.47. Hart also competed in the 100-meter hurdle finals. She placed eighth with a time of 14.98.

Olivia Smid and Katie Taylor were in action for Detroit in the 400-meter hurdle finals. Smid placed fifth (1:05.21), while Taylor ended up in seventh (1:09.06).

Detroit took second place in the 4x400 meter relay. The group of Hart, Meisner, Kirstin Mooney, and Calhoun completed the race in 3:52.40. The Titans got another solid effort from the 4x100 meter relay team of Nikia Duncan, Calhoun, Hart, and Meisner. This group finished fourth and posted a time of 47.69.

Off the track, freshman Stephanie Cuniberti placed seventh in the high jump (5-1) and Susan Kalkstein finished 11th in the triple jump (36-3.50).

Lauren Berlin set a new personal record in the shot put. Berlin placed sixth with a throw of 38-3.25. Allyson Koglin and Stephanie Blanchard also performed well for Detroit in the shot put. Koglin placed 10th overall (35-6), while Blanchard took 12th (34-0). Koglin also grabbed a 10th place finish in the discus. She recorded a distance of 124-4.
