Camp Flyer

DETROIT – The Detroit Titan track and field program will host two throw camps this summer. Assistant Coach Brian Richotte will direct camps on July 16th and July 23rd.

Athletes 12 years of age and up are welcome to register for the In The Sector Throws Camp, hosted by the University of Detroit Mercy track and field program. This camp offers two sessions which feature a variety of drills and exercises to help improve performance in both the discus and the shot put.

Camp Overview:
The In the Sector Throws Camp provides activities designed to help develop skills for those athletes wanting to improve throwing mechanics and develop a more efficient technique. The camp places special emphasis on teaching and refining fundamentals. The environment will be fun, yet throws intensive, with comprehensive coverage of both shot put and discus for beginners as well as advanced athletes. The daily schedule includes event specific skills sessions, teaching proper nutrition for the athlete, speed dynamics, strength and conditioning workouts, evaluations and personal coaching tips. This camp will provide you with a strong building block for which to build upon in the off season.

Camp Schedule:
9:30 a.m. – Registration
10:00 a.m. – Introduction / Calisthenics
10:30 a.m. – Session 1: Discus
12:30 p.m. – Lunch
1:15 p.m. – Demonstration of Exercises
2:00 p.m. – Session 2: Shot Put
4:00 p.m. – Introduction to the Hammer Throw
4:30 p.m. – Individual Analysis / Closing Statements
5:00 p.m. – Parent Pick-up

What To Wear / Bring:
Clothing for Outside Exercises
Tennis Shoes / Throwing Shoes for running and throwing
Water
Shot Put and Discus *They will not be provided*

Note: The camp originally set for June 25th has been cancelled due to Coach Richotte hitting a USA qualifying standard mark at the Last Chance Throwers Gala last week in Marion, Ind. Coach Richotte took first place in the competition with a distance of 228-2 (69.56m).
