ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Detroit Titans had three runners finish in the top ten as they opened the year at the Golden Grizzly Open.
Edwin Gay was the top collegiate runner on Friday taking second place overall.
Gay ran a great race to lead Detroit with a time of 19:10. He was only two seconds behind the top finisher as Jason Bigelow took top honors as an unattached athlete with a time of 19:08.
Colin Creagh had an impressive start to his freshman season by placing fifth overall with a time of 19:46. Teammate
Erik Westbrook also cracked the top ten with a time of 20:06 (8th overall).
Freshman
Ylli Alla placed 12th overall with a time of 20:20, and
Matt Mahler finished 19th clocking in at 20:42.
Senior
Bob Radlich placed 23rd overall with a time of 21:00, and
Sam Felton was close behind with a time of 21:20 to earn 26th place.
A pair of freshmen rounded out the effort for UDM.
Ryan Hofsess finished 32nd overall with a time of 21:42, and
Tony Rote crossed the finish line at 21:52 (37th place).
UDM will return to action next weekend when they host the 25th Annual Running Fit Detroit Titan Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10. The first race will begin at 11:15 a.m.
