DETROIT – Head Coach Guy Murray has added seven student-athletes to the men's cross country roster. Five of the seven runners hail from the state of Michigan with one coming from Ohio and another from New York.

“We were able to add a good group of young men to the team who have lots of potential,” Murray said. “They have big shoes to fill as the seniors that recently graduated made up one of our most successful classes ever. A number of these athletes are fairly new to the sport which means they will have room to grow, yet they may need some time to develop as they continue to learn. These new runners will compliment a good veteran core of returners for us in 2011.”

Cross Country – 2011 Freshman Class

Ylli Alla – Madison Heights, MI / Lamphere H.S.
- All-State performer in track and field (2011 – Mich. D2)
- Finished sixth overall in the 3200-meter run
- 4x800-meter relay qualifier
- Regional Runner-up in 2010 (Mich. D2 – XC)
- Ran for Titan Alum Corey Stedman at Lamphere High School

Caleb Cox – Gladstone, MI / Gladstone H.S.
- Named All-State for placing sixth overall in 2010 (Mich. UP D1 – XC)
- Made All-State for a fifth place performance in 2009 (Mich. UP D1 – XC)
- Qualifier in both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter run in track and field (2011 Mich. UP D1)
- Finished second overall in the 3200-meter run in 2010 (Mich. UP D1)

Colin Creagh – Chesterfield Twp, MI / L'Anse Creuse North H.S.
- Named All-State for a 13th place finish in 2010 (Mich. D1 – XC)
- Represented Michigan at the Mid-East Meet of Champions (XC)
- 2010 Regional Champion in the 3200-meter run (2010 Track and Field Mich. D1)
- Regional scorer with a fourth place finish in the 3200-meter run in 2011 (Mich. D1)

Ryan Hofsess – Milford, MI / Milford H.S.
- 2010 state qualifier in cross country (Mich. D1)
- 4x800 qualifier in track and field during the 2011 season (Mich. D1)

George Holman – West Alexandria, OH / Twin Valley South H.S.
- 2009 state qualifier in cross country (Ohio D3)
- 2010 state qualifier in the 1600-meter run (Ohio D3 Track and Field)
- Placed ninth in the 1600-meter run in 2011 (Ohio D3)

Mike Rizzo – Buffalo, NY / St. Joseph's Collegiate
- NY State Federation qualifier in 2010
- Qualified for the CHSAA 800-meter run in 2011 (Track and Field)

Tony Rote – Carleton, MI / Airport H.S.
- Three-time state qualifier in cross country (Mich. D2 / '10, '09, '07)
- State qualifier in the 3200-meter run (Track and Field / Mich. D2)
