Murray Adds a Pair of Runners to the Women’s XC Team

DETROIT – Zeinab Baydoun and Sara Taylor will both be in action for the Detroit Titan women's cross country team this fall as announced by head coach Guy Murray.

“Zeinab and Sara will both help us during the upcoming season,” Murray explained. “We are not very deep this year, but it is a nice group with some potential.”

Zeinab Baydoun – Windsor, ON / Massey H.S.

Baydoun will compete on both the cross country team and the women's track and field team in 2011. “Zeinab will help up front and it is exciting for us to bring in an experienced steeplechase runner to add to the mix,” Murray said.

Baydoun placed 20th at the 2010 Ontario High School Cross Country Championships. On the track, she took third in the 1500-meter steeplechase and 14th in the 3000-meter run. She also finished sixth overall in the 2000-meter steeplechase at the 2011 Canadian Junior Nationals.

Sara Taylor – Emmett, MI / Yale H.S.

Taylor will also be a dual sport athlete competing in both cross country and track and field for the Titans. She was a state qualifier in cross country (Mich. D2) during the 2009 season. Her best event on the track would be the 800-meter run. Taylor was a regional scorer in the 800m in both 2010 and 2011. She was a state qualifier in the 800m (Mich. D2) during the 2009 season. “Sara will be in the group contending for varsity spots in each sport,” Murray said.
