LOUISVILLE -- The men's cross country team placed ninth overall at the 10th Annual Greater Louisville Classic. Detroit ran in the blue race and ended the day with 300 points.

Lipscomb, Ferris State, and Southeast Missouri State made up the top three in the blue race. Lipscomb recorded 119 points for the win and Ferris State was second with 146 points. South Missouri State had the second individual finisher and placed third overall.

Detroit finished in ninth place overall with 300 points. Martin Nelkie was the top finisher for the Titans. Nelkie finished 42nd overall with a personal-best time of 25:54.

Teammates Colin Creagh and Edwin Gay finished side by side at Louisville. They finished 52nd and 53rd respectively. Creagh crossed the finish line at 26:01.46 (PR), while Gay was right there at 26:01.91.

“We had a great pack and were able to finish strong,” Head Coach Guy Murray said. “Martin ran a great last mile for his first sub 26. He will work well together with Colin and Edwin.”

Senior Bob Radlich placed 88th overall at the Classic. Radlich set a personal record in the 8k race finishing in 26:20. Fellow senior Erik Westbrook was the next Titan to finish. Westbrook clocked in at 26:23 (PR) for 100th place.

“It was nice for Bob to be able to PR again,” Murray added. “Erik also ran well. He is fit and went out a bit harder. It paid off.”

Freshman Ylli Alla and sophomore Sam Felton rounded out the effort for Detroit. Alla took 142nd with a time of 26:46 (PR). Felton finished in 184th with a time of 27:10.

The Titans will return to action next weekend by competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Meet hosted by Hillsdale College on Oct. 7.
