Meet Information
DETROIT -- Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this Friday, Oct. 7 at the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships. The men's 8k race will take place at 4:00 p.m., followed by the women's 5k race at 4:45 p.m.
The Charger cross country course is located on Barber Drive, just a half mile east of Hillsdale's campus. The course will open at 2:30 p.m. and three races will follow. Aside from the men's and women's varsity races there will also be an open men's and women's race that will be ran simultaneously beginning at 5:15. An award presentation will wrap up the event at 6:00 p.m.
There will not be an admission fee to enter the course, but spectator parking is five dollars per car.
Sam Felton ran well at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships last year. Felton placed 69
th overall with a time of 28:18.
Chris Smalley and
Erik Westbrook were also in action at Hillsdale a year ago. Smalley crossed the finish line at 29:22 landing him in 103
rd overall as Westbrook placed 104
th with a time of 29:24.
On the women's side,
Kirstin Mooney and
Katrina Oberski will look to run at the front of the pack. Mooney placed 66
th overall last year running 20:00, while Oberski finished close behind at 20:23 (82
nd).
Rachel Hofsess,
Torrie Eger, and
Sarah Martinez were also active at Hillsdale in 2010. Hofsess placed 102
nd with a time of 20:47, while Eger (115
th) and Martinez (128
th) rounded out the effort with times of 21:04 and 21:29 respectively.
