SAAC Officers Announced

DETROIT -- The University of Detroit Mercy Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) voted on its officers for the 2011-12 season, with men's soccer senior defenseman Mike Chiandussi  (Windsor, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) garnering the highest honor of President.

“We have a great group of kids this year that want to be a part of SAAC,” said Amy Gasahl, Asst. Director of Compliance & Academic Coordinator as well as the Titan SAAC administrator. “The committee selected three outstanding members to lead the organization and with that leadership, SAAC will look to accomplish a number of projects and services this year.”

Women's lacrosse senior midfielder Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson Secondary) will serve as the group's Vice President, while women's track and field senior Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA/Burrell) was voted to the Secretary position.

All three officers have been a member of SAAC for three years and have participated in a number of community service projects since they arrived in the Motor City.

SAAC is a group of student-athletes who are brought together to offer their insight on the experience of being a UDM student-athlete. These student-athletes represent their peers and teammates when offering their input on rules, regulations and policies that affect their everyday lives on the campus. They are a direct link between the University of Detroit Mercy student-athletes and administration. The members of the UDM SAAC committee are very active in the community, sponsoring many community service initiatives as well as organizing student-athlete events and assisting in overall student-athlete well being.
