Horizon League Release
 
INDIANAPOLIS -- Ryan Hofsess has been named Horizon League Runner of the Week for the week of Oct. 3-10, as announced by the league office on Monday.  It is the first time Hofsess has received this honor in his young career.
 
Hofsess was the top Titan for Detroit on Friday afternoon while competing in the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships.  He finished 58^th overall with a time of 27:55.
 
“Ryan ran his best race of the season on a tough course in tough conditions,” Head Coach Guy Murray said.  “We hope it is a sign of good things to come.”
 
 Hofsess was just off his 8k personal-best time of 27:35, which he set earlier this year at the Notre Dame Invitational.
 
The men's cross country team placed 12th overall at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships.  They ended the meet with 365 points.
 
Detroit will return to action next weekend, Oct. 15 when they travel to Guelph, Ontario to participate in the Vic Matthews Open.
