Michigan Athletes Chosen to Compete at Brooks PR Invitational

While the indoor season is heating up around the state, a number of Michigan athletes have been chosen to compete in one of the fastest meets in the nation, the Brooks PR Invitational.  Held at the Dempsey, the University of Washington's oversized track has become one of the most prestigious races in the nation. With meet records of 4:43.28 for the girls mile 8:59.15 for the boys 2 mile, 7.57 for the boys 60m hurdles, and 7.21 for the girls 60m dash to name a few from its two year existence, it is a honor to be invited to compete.  While the entrant list is not full yet, six Michigan track and field athletes have already been selected to compete in the meet.  Sami Michell of Reedy City HS, only the second person ever to win four events at the state track meet, will be competing in the 60m hurdles. She was fourth in last years MITS State Championship for this event in a time of 8.79. The Grosse Pointe South team will be sending three girls to compete in Washington.  Hannah Meier, who is the meet record holder in the mile, will be running the 800m with her teammate, Ersula Farrow. Farrow just ran a 5:06.54 mile this past weekend, which is her first track race since her third and fourth place finish at the State Track meet last spring. Hannah's twin sister, Haley, third in last years mile race at this meet, will be contending once again in the mile.  Haley is coming off of a 2:11.85 performance at Grand Valley State this weekend. This mark ranks her second in the nation for HS girls.  Another familiar name, Erin Finn, will race the 2 mile.  Finn blasted a 10:18.23 to begin her season at the University of Michigan last week.  The Michigan commit was third in last year's 2 mile run. The only Michigan male to be selected for the meet so far is Conner Mora of Cedar Springs HS.  Mora, who is the D2 State XC Champ, had a great junior track season last spring that included a 4:10 full mile and D2 1600m title.  The meet is schedule for February 24th and can be watched live on Flotrack.Org.
