Running Institute Mile 2013

Saline, MI

Meet Information

A world-class field, including eight sub-four-minute milers, will be attempting to run the fastest ever mile in the State of Michigan. The current record is 3m55s, held by former Michigan Wolverine and two-time Olympian, Kevin Sullivan.

The race is being organized by 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the 1500m and Ann Arbor resident, Nick Willis, who will be using this race as his final tune-up for the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

We want to get as many local high school runners to the event as possible. As an incentive, the school with the most runners in attendance (team photo with the elites will be used to count heads), will get a guest appearance by Ron Warhurst and his elite milers (Nick will be one of them) at their team's practice this fall. Being the host school, Saline doesn't count in this competition.
