Meet Information

Northwood XC Invitational

Saturday, September 7th, 2019

We're looking to have a smaller version of the MSU Spartan Invitational, where it's a combined high school and collegiate XC meet. I have a college team from Ohio that's 4 hours away (Ashland University), so I'm looking to have the HS races first. I'm open to ideas on improving the quality of the meet, so please let me know of issues that you may have. If you have any questions or are interested in attending, please contact Northwood XC Coach, Jeremy Wilk (wilkj@northwood.edu, 630.201.2391)

Race Schedule:

9:30am - HS Girls Varsity Race (Top 12-14 depending on # of teams entered)

10:15am - HS Boys Varsity Race (Top 12-14 depending on # of teams entered)

11:00am - HS Girls JV Race (unlimited entries)

11:45pm - HS Boys JV Race (unlimited entries)

            12:30pm - HS Awards Ceremony

            1:15pm - Collegiate Women's Race (5k)

            2:00pm - Collegiate Men's Race (7k or 8k)

            2:45pm - Collegiate Awards Ceremony

Location: On Northwood University's campus @ Fisher Fields/Fisher Family Trails. Please refer to maps for parking, team camp area and course layout.

Course: Relatively flat course with about one-third of the total race distance around an open grass field and the other two-thirds in heavily wooded trails consisting of packed dirt, grass or woodchips. There will be mile/kilometer marks throughout the course and inspectors at all intersections.

Entry Fees: High School teams - $150 per school ($75 per gender)

Collegiate Teams - $200 per school ($100 per gender)

Spectator Fees: Plan was $5 per vehicle for parking, but with home football game at same time at nearby location, we may need to charge entry per person instead. In that event, the plan would then be $4-5 per adult, with students under 18 free. Will be decided later.

Restrooms: Portable restrooms will be available near the team camp area.

Athletic Training: A certified athletic trainer will be on site. Please bring your own athletic tape if needed.

Food: No concessions will be available at the moment, but teams are welcome to "tailgate" before, during and after the race. If enough teams will be there, I can see if I can arrange for something.

Awards:  Top 10-15 finishers will get dry-fit Northwood Invitational t-shirts. Top 2-3 teams will receive a trophy/plaque as well. The final numbers will depend on the number of teams and athletes in attendance.
