Athlete Sit-Down: Ally Goff

We got a chance to talk to Saline junior, Skyler Bowden, in the middle of his first indoor season.

Personal Records:

60 Meter Dash - 7.89

60 Meter Hurdles - 8.84

100 Meter Hurdles - 14.23

200 Meter Dash - 25.84

Long Jump - 18-0.25

Michigan MileSplit: You were all-state in the 100 hurdles and the long jump last year. Any thoughts of maybe trying to do the 300's too, or do you just prefer the short-stuff?

Ally Goff: Me running the 300's is really up in the air because I'm willing to try anything but I have also been getting trained to run the 200, so I know I will be running the 200 but the 300's are definitely not out of the question.

MI MileSplit: I haven't heard of any college considerations. Can you let me in on any secrets, or at least if you are looking to stay close to home or get away?

AG: I have actually decided on a college already; not too long ago I verbally committed to Central Michigan and I am super confident in my decision. I love the team, coaches, and atmosphere out there.

MI MileSplit: What are some things you are trying to accomplish during the indoor season? How about outdoor?

AG: There are a few goals I plan on accomplishing this year indoor and outdoor, but to say the least the State meet has been on my mind since it ended last year because I was not satisfied with my results and now I'm just ready to show everyone what I'm capable of.

MI MileSplit: How/when did you get involved running track?

AG: I started running track in seventh grade after I quit gymnastics. I really only started doing it was because all my friends joined it. Now look at me, I can't go without it.

MI MileSplit: Do you like the current format for indoor, a little laid-back and getting to compete against all division kids. Or do you wish you could just run for your school during the winter?

AG: The way indoor is ran right now is perfect to me, I love getting together with my travel team and coaches, it's just a totally different atmosphere than high school track. My travel coach Tyrone Logan has helped form me into the athlete I am today.  He knows me better than anyone when it comes to the physical training and mental training because track is a huge mental sport, if you ask me.

Quick Q's

MI MileSplit: Facebook or Twitter (or Instagram)?

AG: I always prefer Twitter over Facebook, it keeps me connected with the world.

MI MileSplit: Winter or summer?

AG: I absolutely hate cold weather, so summer would definitely win over winter. I love how much happier everyone is in the summer compared to winter.

MI MileSplit: Favorite place for breakfast?

AG: My favorite place for breakfast is actually Leo's Coney Island; you can never go wrong with an omelette.

MI MileSplit: Movie you just saw or want to see?

AG: The last movie I watched was the documentary on Lolo Jones. I was browsing through Netflix and saw it, I didn't even know she had a movie out. It was a very inspiring movie.
