Lansing Catholic's Olivia Theis won the Foot Locker Midwest Regional on Saturday in Kenosha, Wisconsin in a time of 17:13. The senior was able to pull away from Katelynne Hart of Illinois and Emily Covert of Minnesota for a 4 second victory. Theis will be making her second Foot Locker Nationals appearance after finishing 14th for All-American honors last December at Balboa Park.
Theis was one of six national qualifiers from the state of Michigan including five girls. Trailing Theis through the finish line chute with top 10 finishers in the girls race were Erica Vanderlende (5th, 17:37), Cecilia Stalzer (7th, 17:43), Adelyn Ackley (8th, 17:43), and Rylee Robinson (10th, 17:45).
Meanwhile, Coldwater senior and Division 2 state champ Shuaib Aljabaly was the lone boys qualifier from Michigan as he slipped in the top 10 with his 9th place run of 15:09.
Division 1 state champ Nick Foster of Ann Arbor Pioneer just missed out on extending his cross country season with Aljabaly in California with a 12th place finish of 15:16.
