Lanae-Tava Thomas Leads Stellar Sprints Fields At SPIRE Showcase

Lanae-Tava Thomas will line-up in a trio of events at the SPIRE Showcase.

Rush Henrietta Sperry's Lanae-Tava Thomas is headed to this weekend's SPIRE Showcase where she'll look to claim wins in the 60m, 200m, and long jump events. Thomas, who's currently listed at No. 2 in the MileSplit 50 subjective rankings, owns the SPIRE Institute's facility records for high school athletes in all of the aforementioned events.

 - 60m -- 7.44 (2016)

- 200m -- 23.90 (2016)

- Long Jump -- 19-11 (2017)

Thomas should enjoy great competition, particularly in the sprints, as a number of Ohio's best will look to challenge the senior from New York.

           Abby Steiner / Dublin Coffman

Steiner is a three-time Ohio indoor state champion at the 200m distance and she currently occupies the third spot in the national rankings in the 60m (when including 55m converted times). The Dublin Coffman senior has been on the 'bubble list' for the MileSplit 50 throughout the season, so this could be her opportunity to break through. Steiner, who's undefeated in 60m and 200m races this season, will compete for the University of Kentucky Wildcats next year in both track and soccer.

           Mia Knight / Beachwood

Knight will also line up in the 60m and 200m events. The Beachwood senior owns an impressive 60m PR of 7.52, and her confidence should be high as she's coming off a strong showing at last weekend's Ohio Preview Meet where she posted a first-place finish in the 60m and a runner-up effort in the 200m event.  Knight will compete for the University of Pennsylvania next year.

           Jaydan Wood / Pickerington Central

Wood adds a great deal of depth to the 200m field, as the junior comes in as Ohio's fourth-ranked athlete from her 24.92 effort at the Ohio Preview MeetWood, who runs quality times from the 60m to the 800m, has been a regular on the MileSplit 50 list this season. She currently sits at No. 29.
