CBA Grad Liskowitz Hits World And Olympic Standard in Shot

Andrew Liskowitz,  a 2015 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, unloaded a titanic blast of 69- 4.75 to  smash the University of Michigan school record in the shot put and meet the qualifying standards for both the 2019 IAAF World Championships and the 2020 Olympic Games during a throwers only meet at Michigan's Track and Field Stadium on Saturday.

Liskowitz's 69-4.75, which came on his sixth-and-final attempt, smashed his previous school record of 66-6.5 that he set at the 2018 National Relays Championships in Arkansas.

Liskowitz, who will be a redshirt senior at Michigan in 2019-20,  is now ranked No. 19 in the world this year, No. 6 in the U.S. this year, and No. 39 on the all-time U.S. list.

Liskowitz, who earned first team All-America honors for the first time when he placed eighth at the NCAA Championships this past season, will compete next week at the World University Games in Naples, Italy.

If Liskowitz places in the top three at the USATF National Championships (July 25-28) in Des Moines, Iowa he will make the U.S. team that will compete at the IAAF World Championships, which will take place from Sept. 27-Oct. 6 in Doha, Qatar.

And if he places in the top three at the U.S. Olympic Trials next summer, Liskowitz would earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team that will compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
