Boys
Avery Clinton-Barnett of Oxford currently leads his class in the middle distances. Clinton-Barnett is the #1-ranked 8th grader in both the 800m and the 1600m. At the Rochester @ Oxford meet, the 8th grader clocked 2:13.05 to finish 3rd and climb the rankings. He returned to the track in a competitive field at the Shake Off The Rust Invitational to set a 1600m season's best of 4:49.60.
Landon Boomershine of Edwardsburg soared over the bar last week at the Nile and Sturgis at Edwardsburg Meet. The young freshman cleared 6-2 in the boys' high jump to finish second and secure a new lifetime best.
Girls
Magdalena Kandt is continuing to improve each time she steps into the ring. The freshman from Farmington Hills Mercy recorded two personal bests this past weekend at the Oak Park Spring Classic in the discus and shot put. Kandt threw 123-6 in the discus, followed by a 38-4 in the shot to secure the victory in both events.
Okemos freshman, Alexia Rump, came away from the Dewitt at Okemos Meet with 3 new personal bests last weekend. Rump ran 29.67 in the 200m, 18.62 in the 100m hurdles, and won the 300m hurdles in 48.30 to put her name amongst the top in her class.
