Thompson, Horton III, Von Blon, and Douglas are at the top of their class in Michigan - no small feat given how competitive the state is!
Boys
Kharon Thompson of Oak Park showed tremendous improvement in his most recent 800m performance at the Ram Classic. Thompson clocked a personal best 1:59.20 to break the 2-minute barrier as a freshman, shaving off over six seconds from his previous best of 2:05.76.
Charlotte's Robert Horton III also dropped a lifetime best at the Hastings Team Invitational in the 300m hurdles, going 41.41. That's a new PB by 2 seconds, and Horton III currently leads his class in the event.
Girls
Keira Von Blon currently leads the state in both the 1600m and the 3200m for her class. The freshman from Ann Arbor Pioneer got it started in the mile, recording a new personal best at 5:01.02 mile at the SEC Pioneer @ Dexter meet. A few days later, she returned to the track at the April Showers Invitational and went 10:42.20 to finish second. In under a week, Von Blon dropped her 1600m time by 15 seconds and her 3200m time by over 38 seconds.
In the 200m, Aubrey Douglas achieved her first sub-25-second performance at the Ram Classic. Competing for Oak Park, Douglas ran 24.90 for a lifetime best and ranks #2 among the 2029 class. The week before, Douglas lowered her 100m PR to 11.87 at the Oak Park Spring Classic - she's building momentum at just the right time in the season.
