Michigan Track & Field: Middle School State Leaders

Boys

We saw all new middle school state leading marks in the distance events, thanks to the Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman Field. In the 800m, Langston Bickerdt defeated the field with a personal best of 1:58.98, then came runner up in the 1600m in 4:27.19.

The 1600m champion was Cody Lam of Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts. The 8th grader edged out Bickerdt as he crossed the line first with a personal best of 4:26.60. He also set 2 new best marks in the 800m and 3200m, finishing 2nd in both, running 2:01.09 and 9:50.42.

Drew Franken of Holland Christian won the boys' 3200m at the Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman Field. Franken ran a personal best of 9:49.40 to secure the victory and the top time in Michigan among middle schoolers.

At the Lebanon Middle School Meet, Ethan Conway of Indian River-Inland Lakes won the triple jump title. The 8th grader jumped a lifetime best of 32-10.25 and achieved the top mark among Michigan middle schoolers this year.

Trey Bradley won the boys' high jump title at the Waverly at Holt MS meet. The 7th grader from Holt cleared a lifetime best 5-6 as he won the event and set a new state-leading mark among his class.

Girls

At the Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman Field, Blake Ensfield of Saugatuck won th' 800m. The 7th grader set a lifetime best of 2:21.18 as she broke the tape. Ensfield leads her class in Michigan over the distance.

In the 3200m at the Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman Field, Brooklyn Thomasma took the win. The 8th grader from East Kentwood threw down a huge Personal best of 11:07.78 as she crossed the line.

In the long jump at the SEC-MS Championship (Ypsi), Evelyn Albring defeated the field. The 7th grader from Temperance-Bedford leaped 16-4 to secure the victory and a new personal best. Albring leads her class in the horizontal jump.

Indian River-Inland Lake's Grace King set personal bests in the long jump, triple jump, and discus at the Lebanon Middle School Meet. The 8th grader leaped 12-10 in the long jump, 27-1 in the triple jump, and threw 53-8 in the discus. King leads her class in the triple jump.

Harper Henderson of Jenison took the girls' 1600m title at the Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman Field. The 8th grader clocked a personal best of 5:11.07 as she crossed the line. Henderson returned to the track, finishing runner-up in the 800m with a lifetime best of 2:21.85
