Saturday brought rainy weather to Michigan after many of other teams raced on Friday in near perfect conditions. The biggest school classes ran later in the day, making some of the times from those races slower, but despite that there were some really strong races from many of Michigan's best.
4th ranked Brighton pulled out a 3-point win over 6th ranked Ann Arbor Skyline in the team race. Austin Mercado of Salem pulled away for the individual title opening up a 22 gap in the final mile with Hudson Doll of Skyline finishing 2nd in 16:09.
Boys Div II
10th ranked Holly held off 6th ranked Petoskey by 5 points. Holly gained the victory is large part due to their strong front three that went 2-4-8 in the race led by Broden Ladd who was 2nd behind Alexander Allen of Alpena who ran 16:14 in one of the last races of the raining day.
Boys Div III
Unranked coming into the race Pinckney showed they are much better than that by whipping 5th ranked Flint Powers 36 to 54 for the team win. Cole McCraw of Pinckney led the whole way and finished in 15:52 ahead of Lennox Naswell of Powers. Lincoln Reed of Pinckney came home in 3rd in 16:23.
Boys Div IV
Luke Herron of Caro took the race from the start and held for to beat Cooper Flick and Nole Lorenzen in a battle of some of D3s best runners and teams. All three were under 16 minutes with Herron leading the wat in 15:45. Coming into the race Hanover-Horton was ranked 3rd and Saugatuck 2nd in D3 after Hanover-Horton's 68 to 87 win they should flip in the rankings that may see H-H move to the top spot.
Boys Div V
2nd ranked Breckenridge handed 3rd ranked Hillsdale Academy a 30-42 loss behind a 1-2 performance from Anthony Rowe (16:05) and Cooper Burt (16:23). Breckenridge will get to square off with D4 #1 Holland Calvary as well as Saugatuck and other highly ranked D3 schools this coming week at the Pewamo-Westphalia Invite.
Girls Div I
Keira Von Blon had a dominant 29 second victory ahead of ahead of Northville's Alexandra Scappaticci who was a full minute clear of 3rd place. Von Blon ran 17:17. Von Blom's Ann Arbor Pioneer team was less than full strength as they finished in 9th. 2nd ranked Northville took advantage of that and finished in first with 84 points ahead of 10th ranked Ann Arbor Skyline and less than full strength Rochester Adams squad in 3rd.
Girls Div II
Midland Dow had little competition in the team race as they won by over 60 points over 2nd place Berkley. The individual race was much closer as Paige Rohda had an impressive win over Emilia Garces in 18:24 on the muddy course. Garces ran 18:41. Maddie Lindley of Holly and teammate Julia Bambach were 3-4.
Girls Div III
This race was run earlier in the schedule when the course wasn't as muddy and Jaelyn Ray of Pinckney won in 18:09 by 27 second over Kayla Shellenbarger of Goodrich. Goodrich took the team with 64-91 over Pinckney.
Girls Div IV
Violet Tetil Caro and Avery Kelly of Benzie Central battled the whole way with Tetil eventually pulling away for a 14 second win with a time of 18:51.
The team race was a beauty as D3 5th ranked Saugatuck won by a point over 9th ranked Benzie 80-81. Saugatuck's first runner didn't come in until 10th but it was a pack of Trailblazers as they finished 10-11-12-17. The Saugatuck girls will get a good idea of just how good they are as they face the top three ranked teams in D3 at Pewamo this coming weekend.
Girls Div. V
In the first varsity race of the rainy day D4 standout Kaylie Livingston of Whitmore Lake won by 1:24 in 18:45. Top-ranked Hillsdale Academy showed they are for real winning 69 points over defending D4 champion Whitmore Lake which came in ranked 7th this season.
