About Our Team
The Grand Blanc Boys Track and Field team has a great tradition and has ranked as one of the top Michigan division I programs over the last 20 years. The Team finished the 2012 season scoring 44 points at the State Championship meet held at East Kentwood High School. The team finished in second place taking home the runner-up trophy. The team finished in Second place the following year in 2013 as well. The team has won eight league championships and seven regional championships from 2000 to the present, with three regional titles back-to-back-to back in 2010,2011, and 2012. The team was 2nd at the regional meet in 2013. The team has also had five top ten finishes at the State Championship Meet and One MITCA Team State title in 2005. Grand Blanc Boys have won the Mile/1600 meter event four times and still owns the best time in the State for the 1600 meter run at the state finals. Omar Kadurah's 4:07.67 in 2010 still stands. In 2012, the Bobcat boys won State titles in the 4x100 and 4x200 Relays breaking school records in both events running :42.13 and 1:28.21 at the State and :41.98 and 1:27.90 a week earlier. The team placed athletes in five other events at the State Finals. The 2013 season features two young runners to look at. Drake Gautheir and Grant Fisher. Drake Gauthier finished his Freshman season running 1:53.00 in the 800 meter run and winning his age group at the AAU National Championships that summer. Grant Fisher started off his 10th grade track season with a bang. He won the MITCA indoor 1600 meter run State Title with a time of 4:20.00 Grant Fisher and Drake Gauthier both lived up to the hype as they both made All-State this past 2013 season. Drake placing 3rd.in the 400m dash and Fisher won the 3200m run while finishing 2nd in the 1600m run. Robie Plummer finished 2nd in the High Jump at the State finals with a jump of 6'9.5". All three return for the 2014 outdoor season. Fisher is coming off a great cross country season as he laid claim to the division 1 state title, the Footlocker National Championship, and was named the 2013 "Gatorade Player Of The Year". Also, Fisher won the indoor 1600 state title running 4:10 and he Just won this years Mile race at the Indoor New Balance Nationals in 4:09.46. Drake Gauthier placed 2nd in 800m run in this 2014 indoor MITS State meet, running 1:56. "The team has produced over forty Michigan H.S. All-State athletes as well as many NCAA Division I, II and NAIA Div. III athletes,and one Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram. Coach Ed Stanbury is in his 19th year as the Bobcat Head Track and Field coach. He was voted Genesee County coach of the year four times and was nominated for Michigan High School Division I Coach of the Year Four times. The team is looking forward to another great season.
