A pair of Michigan's top athletes have gained national recognition following their impressive performances from this past weekend.
Abby Vanderkooi captured her ninth victory of the season at the Portage Invitational due to her 17:22.20 clocking. The freshman from Muskegon Western Michigan Christian has taken the cross country scene by storm; in addition to her undefeated record, she's run sub 17 on two occasions. Her 16:57.65 clocking at the Muskegon Catholic Central Invite on August 25th ranks her second in the state and seventh nation-wide.
