Hunter Jones dropped another two seconds off his PR to win the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic with a time of 4:05.48 which still ranks him second behind Clay Shively on the US high school rankings. The Wake Forest commit had splits of 60, 61, 63 and closed in 61 win his first college meet. Last week Hunter was in Chicago where he won all high school section of the CYUP Misfits Invite Presented by HOKA one mile run with a then PR of 4:07.36.
Benzie Central high school head coach and GVSU alumni, Asa Kelly said about Hunter's race "As far as I know, that was the fastest HS mile ever run on Michigan soil and third fastest all time. Fischer and Hobbs both ran faster, but in meets in other states."
