Sophia Kennedy wins New Balance Elite 3200m at GVSU MITS #5

The next generation of runners are setting them self up to racing them self into the record books just like their fathers did.  Sophia Kennedy ran away from the field of 18 runners in the Gazelle Sports/New Balance Elite 3200m at the GVSU MITS #5 meet.  Kennedy is the daughter of Olympian and former American Record holder Bob Kennedy.  Sophia did not wait long to head to the front of the pack and win by :25 over junior Rachel Forsyth who ran 10:40.89.  The Park Tutor senior will be headed to Stanford in the fall.  She could meet up racing another former American Recorder's daughter in the future as high school freshman Addison Ritzenhein from Colorado won the mile last weekend at the Lets Get REAL Invitational Championship in Colorado Springs.  As you may know, her father, Dathan Ritzenhein, broke Bob Kennedy's American record back in 2009 running 12:56.27.  Ritz vs Kennedy is coming to a track near you.
