MileSplit reached Alex to gain further insight on his performance:
"I went into the race just hoping to get a really good work-out in for the day. I went out in 4:48 for the first mile and felt very controlled and focused. I wanted to be in control, but still push the pace. Following the race, I did a 3 mile tempo run on the roads with a 5:30 pace. I was happy to be able to take my spikes off and hit 16:30 for 3 miles, starting just ten minutes after my event concluded. I was also pleased with how the younger guys on the team stepped up; they proved to have mature racing ability and showed that our team has a lot of potential this year."
