Moses Mosop of Kenya broke the World Record on the track at Hayward Field with a time of 1:26.27.4.    The race, 75 laps of the track, saw Moses lap every runner in the field  at least twice.  After the race he donned a "Stop Mosop" T-shirt, which was reminiscent of the old  "Stop Pre" of long ago.     The 10K featuring Chris Solinsky and Galen Rupp, among others, will be run at 8:40PM Pacific time.

Sean Keller gave the Washington State meet national prominence with his throw in the  Javelin and Amy-Eloise Neale & Katie Knight followed suite in the 1600 Meter Run.

Early action on day two, which for the most part was conducted in a downpour & moderate winds, as Kasen Williams of Skyline establish a new meet record in the Triple Jump with a leap of 50-09.25.   His mark is the first time any Washington State prep athlete has surpassed the magic fifty barrier.

Amy-Eloise Neale ran 10:12.33  for Glacier Peak as she claimed the 3A division 3A  championship.   Not only did Neale go under the division record but Katie Knight of North Central (10:15) & Kendra Weitz of Shadle (10:20) also broke the former record.   Erin Hegarty of Hanford ran alone for the bulk of the race and finished fourth with  11:09 on a breezy day.    Anthony Armstong of Kamiakin ran the best time of the day for all the guys when he won the 3A crown with  8:57.36.   Nathan Weitz, also a junior, placed second for Shadle Park with 9:02, as he edged Jeff Bastina of Glacier Peak.    Vince Hamilton, a senior from North Central, finished fourth with  9;04.

Kenji Bierig of Lewis & Clark annexed the  boys' 4A title with  9:01, while Nate Brennand of Olympia came in second (9:02).   Merin Smith of Federal ran 9:03 to place third three seconds in front of Jacob Smith of Wenathchee & sophomore Andrew Gardner of Mead earned fifth ahead of Korey Krotzer of Auburn Riverside.  For the girls it was Tansy Lystad of Inglemmor, who triumphed.  Her time of  10:28 saw her finish well ahead of freshaman Jordan McPhee, who ran 10:52.  Richland runners Maggie Jones & Katie Mahoney garnered third & fourth, while Chandler Olson of Woodinville came home fifth.

Dylan Croeni of Washougal claimed the title that eluded him in Cross Country by finishing in a time  9:23.62.  Pat Gibson of Squalicum ran 9:25 to take second ahead of Dakota Parker of W F West, who ran 9:26.  Nich Schippers of Kingston took fourth.   For the girls' Sanne Holland of Cheney topped Marina Roberts of Kingston, who had battled most of the way before bowing 10:50.12 to 10:57.17.   Nikita Waghan of Interlaken placed third.

Christine Kirkwood of Othello, who will compete for the Air Force Academy finished her career with a victory in the Javelin with a State record of  167-09.   Jamie Weisner of Clarkston placed second in 2A with  147-08.  Courtney Fairhart of Eatonville was third with  138-11.    Olivia Vincent of Holy Names triumphed in the 3A High Jump by going 5-07, which edged the 5-06.00 of Sasha Weber of Timberlake.   Cecelia Jackson, also from Holy Names, earned third with fewer misses than  Britanny Grandy of Sedro-Wooley, who also cleared 4-02.00.     John Wishard of Kelso triumphed in the 3A Pole Vault, when he cleared 5-07 to best Tyler Wilson's  1406.  The Shadle Park vault specialisit placed second ahead of Hazen's Kyle Martin & Patrick Henry's Lev Marcus, who both went to a jump of after making 14-00.

Oregon State Meet - Day 2 - Distances Leo Collins May 23, 2011

Andy Bennison digs deep to claim the 1500 and Stetson Smith displayed an impressive kicked in the 800M.   Kelsi Schaer of Tigard heads off to Oregon State after an impressive 1500 meter upset & Louise Mulvey showed she has plenty of heart in the 800.

Travis Neuman & Jesse Sanderson led the Summit guys as they won meet with  146 points.   Ashley Maton, Megan Fristow & Sarah Frazier led the girls, as Summit topped Mountain View 173 to 123.5..

Cullen Wannarka & Kelly O'Neill won the  guys' & girls' 3K respectively, while Greg Skipper  scored in the discus & Angela Haluska annexed the Shot Put title.

Mount Hood District Day 2 Leo Collins May 11, 2011

Arthut Delaney won three  events (100M, 200M & 400 Meters)and Ryan Crouser added a victory in the Shot Put   to lead Barlow to victory in the Mount Hood District.    The Barlow team had  160.5  points to top Central Catholic, which had 134, and Gresham which had 114.  Centennial was close behind with 112 points.   Badane Sultessa of Centennial had a banner day with victories in the 1500 (3:59.21) and the 800 (1:58.23)

Barlow also annexed the Girls' team title with 145 to top St. mary's Academy (117), Gresham (115) & Centennial (112).   Paige Rice & Erin Bergmann went 1 - 2 for SMA in both the 1500 & the 800 Meter Run.   Haley Crouser broke another Metro record with her victory in the 100 Meter Hurdels with her clocking of 14.91.  DeJuanae Toliver-Porter of Centennial scoredvictories in the 100  & 200 Meter Dashes.

Mt. Hood District Day 1 Leo Collins May 10, 2011

Haley Crosuer of Gresham won three events on the first  day of action at the Mount Hood District.    Crouser set a meet record in the Javelin with an excellent mark mark of  169-00:  one of hte best marks in the nation this year.     Haley also won the Shot Put with a toss of  43-00 & claimed the Long Jump with a leap of  16.09.5.    It was a busy day for the Gresham star, who also led the preliminary round of the  Hurdles with a time of 15.06.

Hannah Cunliffe, a freshman prep from Federal Wa.  & representing the Seattle Speed placed second in the Women’s 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.37.

J J Juilfs of Sheldon, competing unattached, finished fourth  in the Pole Vault with a mark of 15-09.25.

Sean Keller threw the javelin 118-04 into a stiff wind, while Tera Novy went 45-03 in the shot & 130-02in the discus.   Zoe Moller won the Long Jump with 18-04 and annexed the triple jump with 36-00.   Casey Burns of Kennedy was impressive in the boys' Triple with his 46--02.25.  Chancey Summers cleared 5-05 in the high jump despite inclement conditions..  Cherish Morrison of Blaine annexed toe 100M, 200M & 400 Meters, while Douglas Sudberry won the boys' 100 & 200. Carly Wilczynski won the 800 & the Mile, while Priscilla Timmons claimed the 3200.  Izaic Yorks won the 800 & the Mile plus Dakota Parker scored in the 3200.  Casey Burns threw 46-02 in the shot and Zoe Miller went 18-0 in the long jump & 36-00 in the triple jump.  Casey Burns flew 46-02.25 in the Triple.
