Motor City's relay consisted of Dewan Hawthorne (400), Donnie James (200), Ahmarri Kidd (200) and Cameron Cooper (800). The splits were as follows: Hawthorne, 51.9 seconds; James, 22.7 seconds; Kidd, 23.4 seconds; Cooper, 1:53 seconds.
The team's run outpaced the MITS record from 2015, which was 3:32.78.
The SMR here was a tune-up for Motor City's (Oak Park High) attempts on March 12-14 at New Balance Nationals Indoor, where they hop to eclipse Chantilly (Va.) High's 3:25.96 national record, which was set last year.
